FURNISHING AND ACCESSORIES
Using exceptional domestic and imported hardwoods and select veneers, each piece is sculpted to shape and assembled as was done decades ago, by hand on the workbench. Meticulous efforts are given to the details of joinery, inlays, and carvings,. Upon finalizing the construction each piece is distressed to the desired level to provide a backdrop for the warm hand rubbed patina that draws us to the antiques and the brilliance of the contemporary.
I began making knives in June 2015, I have since joined and became a "Lonestar maker" in the Texas knifemakers guild, am currently finishing up my first year as a probationary member (1 year remaining and then judged to become a full member) in the Knifemakers Guild and am a founding member of Wmaa. I have chosen the stock removal process as a place to start my journey of knifemaking. I order the flat stock steel, my current preference is CTS-xhp, draw off my intended shape then cut it out on the bandsaw. I then proceed to grind the profile and get the bolster and handle pin holes drilled before doing my own heat treat and temper. After the blade has cooled from temper I head back to the grinder where I get it cleaned up and grind in the primary bevels (hollow or flat). Once I have them where I want them I get my makers mark added and numbered. I then proceed to shaping and setting the bolster choosing the handle material and doing the final shaping and finish work. When the knife is complete I make its sheath using 6-7oz veg tan leather, do any of the stamping, tooling, carving that is desired and stain it to the designated color, hand stitch, and finish off the edges to be buttery smooth.
I am a one person shop and fill all orders in as timely manner as possible. The photos shown are examples of my work and may or may not be available, so please contact me via email or phone if you see something you like and I will do my best to keep current stock shown.
